Waller Transport Services prides itself on the strong and trusted relationships built up with a large team of hauliers and owner drivers. This partnership gives Waller access to a wide range of different vehicles and equipment, enabling them to provide a solution to suit all customer needs and requirements.

Last Christmas, Waller’s reputation, couple with access to this partnership of hauliers, led to them being approached by an existing large-scale customer, to provide a transport solution incorporating specialised equipment and the need for a time critical multi-drop service.

The team based in Liverpool were set the task of delivering promotional goods into 170 regional stores throughout the UK in the lead up to the big festive period. All stores had their own unique and specific requirements, including time critical deliveries, height restrictions and a completion deadline of two weeks.

To add to the complication, the team were given only a fortnight to plan and deliver into the stores before beginning the two weeks to execute the delivery schedule.

“Initially when I saw the size of the task set, I knew the level of what was required was going to be a large undertaking.” Said Operations Manager Jeff XXX. “In my opinion, the Waller team embraced the challenge right from the offset. Watching them plan and execute the whole project from start to finish, I can honestly say they should be proud of the hard work and achievement.”

The delivery plan involved resourcing specialised equipment, such as 40ft urban trailers with tail lifts to overcome access and height restrictions, sourcing tail lift trailers and Moffett trailers to help stores with no access to a forklift trucks, and beaver trailers to help accommodate the stores with service bay requirements. In addition, 18T and 26T rigid vehicles with tail-lifts were required for stores too small to facilitate the larger trailers.

The whole time critical, multi-drop project took careful planning; collating delivery information, speaking to all 170 stores individually to book in the best dates and times for delivery and, allocating specific vehicles and equipment to carry out the task successfully. The project was overseen by Waller’s James Russell. James ensured all deliveries ran smoothly and the schedule was successfully completed within the timescales the requested.

Jeff added, “I would like to thank, James and the members of the Liverpool team, for a job well done!”

Although the team would rather have longer lead times, if you have a time critical logistics project to deliver, please call your Waller account team today.
